Rigby Hough qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Cape Town and studied psychotherapy at the University of Warwick. Over the last 20 years he has worked as a psychologist for the Department of Social Services in his native Zimbabwe, for NHS Trusts in St. Helens and North Warwickshire and for the University of Cape Town Child Guidance Clinic. He has lectured in clinical psychology in South Africa, run Stress Management and Communication Skills Workshops for business organisations and developed a training course in counselling techniques for alternative health practitioners. He has trained as a teacher of meditation and has a special interest in the use of meditation as an adjunct to psychotherapy. He also has an interest in the ancient science/art of astrology and in the individual birth chart as a means to gain additional insight into life pattern potentialities. In addition to his one-to-one work Rigby has run Anger Management groups, Parent Effectiveness Training Workshops and intensive personal development weekend groups that incorporate yoga, music and movement, African dance and meditation as tools for growth. In his work as a psychotherapist Rigby has evolved
a therapeutic approach that integrates elements of person-centered therapy,
psychodynamic therapy, cognitive therapy and transpersonal therapy. He
works with individuals, couples and families in both brief and longer-term
therapy. |
