The paintings illustrated are just two of many very beautiful works of art by children aged 5 to 14 who live in the Manchuria district of North East China. |
| The Studios have become one large working gallery and space for creativity with a constantly changing range of exhibits. |

These
and other Chinese paintings which are on display at Violet Hill Studios
are for sale. They cost between £85 and £95. We have established
a charity and all proceeds from the sale of these paintings go to the
children and their families in China.

This wall painting dated 1834 revealed itself while we were having the workshop room redecorated. It was discovered by Chris Jerome "I saw shadowing and what looked like images and very carefully we uncovered this amazing 19th Century mural". The painting, entitled Toxophilites (love of archery), was restored in 2002. It depicts the archery fields that surrounded the tavern, as part of 'pleasure grounds, which also provided quoits, bowls, cricket and lawn billiards'. |
