Paul Kingston has been studying and practising complementary approaches for the last twelve years. Much of his training has been in Ayurveda, initially in Europe, latterly in the United States with Dr Vasant Lad. He has worked at the Bristol Cancer Help Centre, and is also qualified in Kinesiology. He uses a number of integrated approaches in his work. His background is in Conventional Medicine, having previously been a Consultant in the N.H.S. AYURVEDA This ancient Health System from India is well suited to our contemporary culture and lifestyle. Useful across the range of health and disease it is particularly helpful with stress related problems. Methods of treatment include Herbs, Aromas, Touch and Sound. Treatment is tailored to the individual constitution. Advice on Diet and Lifestyle is prominent and effective. Promotion of positive good health is an integral part of this genuinely holistic system. KINESIOLOGY Muscle testing is used to assess underlying imbalances. These imbalances can be corrected during the session, facilitating healing at a deep level. Amongst many benefits this can help bring improved energy and increase emotional balance. It can be used to help relieve past traumas and current upsets, also to defuse anxiety about forthcoming challenges. Identification of food sensitivities is another area of use. Balancing can help here to improve the body's tolerance. Aches and pains, for example, related to poor posture, can be helped by the muscle balancing itself. HOLISTIC and INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE Traditional Healing methods, particularly herbal medicine, are becoming increasingly popular. Conventional Medicine, however, is still very widely used. We do need to take care that conflicts between the two do not arise. Integrative Medicine looks to widen the options available, while ensuring the compatibility of different methods. Our environment, our behaviour and our thoughts and emotions, all influence our health. If we become ill we need to look at these areas, as well as the reason for our illness. Holistic practice considers all aspects of our lives. |
