Gillie Gilbert's passion for human potential has led her development from the Behavioural Sciences through to Education and into discovering the aliveness that exists in us all. As a teacher she became acutely aware of the lack of respect for the Five basic human rights of the individual. She chose to train in Biodynamic Psychotherapy as an energy/body/mind approach that allowed her to work with the profound respect she feels for the human condition, expressing a clarity of perception and quiet toughness to encourage people to push through their false limitations. She has created a unique approach.
Gillie has worked as a trainer for Gerda Boyesen Centre She has worked as a Gerda Boyesen qualified psychotherapist for 18 years. During this time, she has given supervision, run Body Psychotherapy groups and short trainings in Eire, France and London. Gillie believes in lifelong development and continues her studies with other Body Psychotherapy systems. Furthering her studies through Zen and Visionary Craniosacral therapy. Introduction to the work During the formative years of our childhood and teens we created a body structure and a personality that helped us to mediate between the demands placed on us from the outside world which consisted of our parents, school teachers other family members and peer group. Now as adults learning to choose, we discover that we still behave as though we are in our original families, or at the 'effect' of them and that life is not as 'sweet' as we sense or know it could be. Often we feel that work, our colleagues, even our loved ones respond to us in a way that does not match our experience of ourselves. Our bodies begin to cause us difficulties through aches, pains, illnesses, lack of energy or that Zing for life we used to have and we convince ourselves it's age, or something else. Often we have even 'forgotten' the alive creative and vital self we used to be and just function at a low level of existence that we tolerate as 'normal'. The Nature of the work The dynamics of our own physical psychological and emotional being are hidden in the subtle tensions of our muscles, viscera and even energy systems. The sessions involve working to develop an enquiring relationship with the body. In this way a deeper self awareness arises and energetic blocks are freed. Also the breath improves and earlier held bodily tensions dissolve. This change in physicality therefore releases the person to be more healthy in the world, feel more alive and become more expressively themselves. This is due to the release of inhibitions that had been unconsciously held by the body. What you might expect in a session A massage Vegetotherapy Movement Counselling and relationship The Humanistic Bodypsychotherapist's view of the person is essentially of a healthy and positive being, where the emergence of a deeper self awareness is initiated out of addressing normal human dilemmas. The incorporation of an awareness of our own physical inner life invites the development of learning about our psychic and emotional capacities, along with our intuitions, imagination and creativity. The liberation and appreciation of this hidden narrative of life offers clients more vital and choiceful life experiences . |
