Body Psychotherapy and Holistic Massage The body has a memory and carries the imprints of many emotional experiences. Holistic massage touches all levels of the personality: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual (the word holistic comes from the Greek "holos," meaning "the whole"). Sessions start with a slow and deep massage which moves in a natural wave motion over the body. Gradually you will begin to relax and reach a state of abandon and trust. This state of relaxation is the aim of Holistic Massage. The relaxed state allows you to open up to a new awareness of certain events in your life that had become hidden or forgotten over time. The aim of Body Psychotherapy is to remove blockages in body and mind that prevent the life force from flowing freely. It is a combination of touch, massage, emotional release and making conscious what was hidden before in unconsciousness, so that people start experiencing the pleasure of a new integration in the body and mind. The body psychotherapist uses special techniques to reconnect you with these experiences in a therapeutic way. The abilities and qualities required for this come only after a long training programme. When the massaging hands touch the right part of the body, memories of past events can be triggered, and emotions associated with those memories are often released at the same time. It is very important that the body psychotherapist is ready at that moment to recognize, acknowledge and guide the process. Emotions released by the massage can be caused by some event in the past that is difficult or painful to relive, but the more genuine the blockage had been, the more rewarding is the change accomplished when fear, sadness and anger are recognized and relived, and then verbalized and abandoned. The verbalization process has a therapeutic effect on the body and mind. The life force that had become blocked because of stressful passages in our lives as children, as adolescents or adults, is liberated and space is created for joy, balance and vitality. The way is now open to mobilize your resources, to realize change, and to discover a new view of life. Of course, the need to express emotions may not be critical to you at this time, so then allow yourself to come just for the joy of experiencing a holistic massage. You will find this body massage invigorating, and at the same time it will lead you to a profound sense of well being. Body psychotherapy and holistic massage treatments will usually involve weekly one hour sessions for several weeks, depending on the client's needs. Elvira also practices Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (please click here for information). |
